A US fluid ounce is 4.08% larger than an imperial one. Recipes and labels from the UK and Ireland, and older Australian, New Zealand and Canadian sources, use imperial ounces; the US and most nutrition labels use US ounces. Pints and gallons follow the same choice.
This tool converts fluid ounces, which measure volume. Ounces on a kitchen scale measure weight, and the two are not interchangeable: 8 oz by weight fills about 227 mL of water, roughly 430 mL of flour, or only about 160 mL of honey. If your recipe weighs the ingredient, you need its density rather than this converter.

A liter holds 33.814 US fluid ounces, or 35.195 imperial fluid ounces. The gap comes from the two definitions of the fluid ounce, not from rounding.
A US fluid ounce is 29.5735 mL and an imperial fluid ounce is 28.4131 mL, so the US unit is 4.08% larger. Pints diverge much more: an imperial pint is 20 imperial ounces (568 mL) while a US pint is 16 US ounces (473 mL) — about 20% apart.
16 US fluid ounces is 0.473 liters (473 mL), which is exactly one US pint. 16 imperial fluid ounces is 0.455 liters (455 mL).
US recipes use the 236.6 mL cup. Australian, New Zealand and most modern European recipes use the 250 mL metric cup. British recipes from before metrication use the 284.1 mL cup. If the recipe does not say, its country of origin is the best clue.
Not directly. Ounces on a scale are weight, and turning weight into volume requires the ingredient's density. Water is the only near-match: 1 fluid ounce of water weighs about 1.04 ounces.
A 16.9 fl oz bottle is 0.5 liters — the label is just the US-ounce equivalent of a 500 mL bottle. A 12 fl oz soda can is 355 mL, and a European 330 mL can is 11.2 US fluid ounces.
